The Sahara desert animals are some of the oldest species to inhabit the world. All of them had to adapt to the harsh enviornment of living in the dry desert.
This species of insect known as the dung beetle has apapted to not finding food easily by feeding entirely off the waste of other animals.
This is the Horned Viper and it can grow to be up to 50 cm in length. They are nocturnal animals and bury themselves in the sand during the day. They have great camoflauge for hiding in sand and the horns on top of there eyes protect them from sand getting in them. They are endangered though due to their constant degrading enviornment.
This Saharin Cheetah is now very close to extinction. One of there many behavioral adaptations of the heat of the day is that these mammals hunt during the night. They can also draw water that the cannot find from the blood of there prey.
The Fennec Fox is a member of the dog family and is very small all of its life. The adaptive trait of these animals is that their fur is a very bright pale that reflects most of the sunlight on them. There kidneys are also adapted to the desert minimizeing there water loss.
This is the famous flightless bird or Ostrich. It compensates though for being one of the fastest land animals. They stay near watering holes and eat grass and small plants but sometimes even turning on smaller animals.
